My story is one in progress.

About 4 years ago I was waiting on my son and husband to finish getting ready to go to Wednesday night church. I picked up a people magazine that someone had given me and thumbed through. A beautiful little Ethiopian girl caught my eye. It was a story about Aids orphans and I couldn’t put it down. The words of that little girl haunt me to this day, ” No one wants us because we have aids”. She had sat by the bed of her mother and father as they died of AIDs. She then took care of her little brother alone until this orphanage took them in. She was 7 years old.  The tears started to flow so hard I couldn’t talk. My husband ran in thinking someone had died and tried to console me. When I could speak again, I showed him the article and we read it together and knew right then that somehow we needed to let those kids know they are loved and valuable and to help them. We have been praying for them ever since. We started researching the adoption process shortly after that and God had another path for us. I was pregnant with little Lydia.  She was born premature and had many health problems.  I literally fought for her life and today she is a very healthy little 3 year old due to the healing power of God.  Just when we started thinking again about the adoption process this wonderful website was formed. The information that you have here has answered so many of my questions already. It is much more of a daunting process than I ever expected but I know that God put it on your heart to help us through the process. I still don’t know what God’s plan is for me regarding the Ethiopian children but I am willing and able to follow where He leads. They are (as well as the other needy children) valuable in God’s eyes and mine.

Wow Tonya!  I am a little speechless.  I knew that hearing member stories would be touching and inspirational, but I am just so moved by yours I guess particularly because it is still in process.  I can not wait to see His good plans unfold.  It is such a privilege to join with you as you prayerfully consider what the future holds.  Please don’t hesitate to ask for help with anything that comes along.  If/when you decide to adopt I am your girl if you want to do a bake sale, garage sale, coffee sale or anything else to bring in the funds.  God has so many ways, that he will see to it, but I would be honored to help.

After returning from my trip I just read your story.  Thanks for sharing your story Tonya.  I am glad God healed your daughter, and I look forward to seeing more of His work in your life and your heart for orphans.
