Knowledge gained at “The Justice Institute” held at Twin City Bible Church in Urbana, IL has opened my eyes to a great need for justice in our community here in Champaign-Urbana-IL and the surrounding area.  This semester’s sessions focused on the topics of Domestic Violence, Homelessness, Health Care, and Education.  I plan to share more on these topics in future posts.

I gave this mini introduction to the topic of justice in our local community as a hint that opportunities to “love our neighbors” exist right here.  A resource called The Public Engagement Symposium was brought to my attention by Mr. Nathaniel Banks.  The symposium is this Wednesday, and is free and open to the public.  “Members of the local community are strongly encouraged to attend and participate in this symposium”.  This is more than a catch phrase invitation.  They really mean it sincerely.  The poster session gives us an opportunity to quickly learn about community projects, and gain access to contacts and information when you find something of particular interest to you.
